THE AREA 

The Terre de l’ebre cover the areas that surround the final stretch of the majestic river Ebro before it meets the Mediterranean Sea. A large river delta now the Ebro delta natural park plays host to three hundred and twenty five species of birds over half of the six hundred that exist in Europe.

It is also an area of international importance due to eight endangered plants and sixty-nine species of vertebrate fauna. A uniquely beautiful, completely flat landscape planted with ever changing rice fields.

In contrast the inland area has the mountainous Ports region also a national park ever watched by mount Caro the highest peak in the area at 1447 metres. On the opposite side of the Ebro valley Mount Cardo overlooks Tortosa.

Tivenys  is situated just 12 kms outside the historic City of Tortosa, a beautiful city built on the banks of the River Ebro under the 10th century castle.

Tortosa has many places of interest to visit from the stunning cathedral to the bustling indoor food market a place to collect gourmet ingredients or just sit with a few tappas and watch the life of real Spain pass you by.

 

The area is unspoilt a delight for walkers, bird watchers, fishermen and those who love the countryside.
